watch out for falling space debris.
who. Anyone and everyone on the station.
what. Two shuttles come through the relay. Only one makes it through intact - and it's the one bringing in the new recruits.
where. All around the station, but most of the action will probably take place on and around the landing pads.
when. Right now.
warnings. General, mass hysteria. Not much else.
It's that time again. Time for that shuttle to come through the relay and bring in a new batch of people that don't know where they are or why. This is something that everyone has gotten used to, and doesn't think much of.
This time, though, something is different. And because no one is expecting it, it catches the entire station by surprise. Two shuttles come through the relay, and while that's more than surprising enough, what happens next, no one is expecting.
One of the shuttles explodes. Out in the dead of space between the relay and the station, it bursts into a thousand smaller pieces. The debris left behind tells nothing of what had been on the shuttle, or who for that matter, but the fact remains that this wasn't supposed to happen.
Which means people are going to wonder why it happened in the first place.
With the newcomers arriving on the station, there's going to be enough confusion going on, but with the shuttle explosion tacked on to the end? It's going to raise some suspicion.
This log is not only for the newcomers to mingle about, but also to gauge reactions about the shuttle exploding. To speculate on why it happened, and generally allow for all kinds of reactions all throughout the station. You can assume that by the time the shuttle with our new characters has landed, news of the explosion has travelled through most of the station. Please see the OOC post for more information.
Have fun, and try not to freak out too much.

"I just know one minute you're going one place and then somewhere in the middle you end up here. I was at a warehouse," she replies, as if it's not a very odd place to be.

"And nobody remembers anything." It's a question, but not put as one. Elena just can't think of a reason why everyone seems to forget the middle between point A & B. She'd like to jump to the conclusion of magic or possession, but that really doesn't appear to be a thing around here already. And what commentary is that when those seem far-fetched possibilities to the current situation. For now, she decides to let it drop. Lydia doesn't know anything and speculating is only going to get her so far. "I'm Elena, by the way."

Lydia assumes that it's something from a science fiction movie. That faster than light, black holes -- those sort of unexplained things.

Moving closer to Elena, she shows her Omni-Tool to her. "Like this. You should have one on you. You never picked it up, though, and it's more advanced than most the smart phones I've seen. If they can do that, I have to think that they can do more."

"You know, when I woke up this morning, I really didn't think I'd be falling in the middle of a sci-fi flick by lunchtime," she says, looking at her own Omni-Tool and trying to remember if and when she would have picked it up. There's, of course, nothing in her memory about that. She shakes her head a little, closing her eyes a moment. Maybe if she could just visualize home, she'd end up there. Of course, that far-fetched idea won't work even if instant travel into space and another dimension are apparently legitimate.
"How long have you been here?" she asks, opening her eyes. She's not sure if she wants the answer.
no subject
"I didn't really understand it either and I don't actually understand most of it anymore today than I did then." It probably didn't help that she spent a week unconscious with dreams of home that she's positive happened.

Elena's leaning towards no. Everyone seems to be in such a panic and she's noticed a few dirty looks tossed her way from other species. She's not sure if there's rampant racism or what, but either way it seems more like eyes are peeled for scapegoats more than anything else.

"I think it's something everyone's eager to find out, but I don't think anyone has any answers. Usually, it's just one shuttle - not two."
no subject
"You don't think it's possible it was set up somehow, do you?"
no subject
Was there even a CSI: Omega around here?
no subject
"Can you think of any off the top of your head?"
Yeah, she really needs a life coach.
no subject
"Honestly? Not really. I'm still trying to learn about all the different aliens here."

It's the easiest way to explain that she had been unconscious and dreaming of being back home.
