intro log
who. everyone!
what. entering omega.
where. landing pads
when. today
warnings. none for now
You’re not sure how it happened.
A minute ago, you had somewhere to go, someplace to be. Maybe something important to do, or maybe you were just going out to buy groceries. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter anymore.
You’re in some kind of transport -- a shuttle, given the turbulence and the sounds outside. You’re surrounded by strangers, some of whom might not even be the same species you are. There’s no point in asking. They don’t know how they got here either. The cockpit’s blocked off, like someone forgot to put in a door, and not even a glance at your omni-tool -- a holographic interface accessible by merely tapping the sensor on your left arm -- is any help.
You’ve only got a minute or so before the shuttle starts descending. There aren’t any windows -- this doesn’t look like a shuttle meant for long trips. When it finally touches down, the doors open automatically.
Before you are landing pads, abandoned equipment scattered about. There are other shuttles landing, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get off before yours dumps you out the door. Turn around, and you’re met with a hazy skyline, only half the buildings seem to be coming from above.
Welcome to Omega.
ooc notes
You’re free to expand past the landing area, but please start all threads here. Please remember that your character will not have housing until Aria makes a post granting it; it’ll be on
outsiders and linked here when it goes up.

She doesn't gape or stare; that's just plain rude. Liara isn't the only one she's eyeing up, either, but she's certainly someone who's caught Hawke's eye. The confusion over her skin color and her overall physique is quickly replaced by curiosity and something akin to concern, especially when she sees the woman take a seat, looking as frustrated as Hawke feels.
With some initial hesitation, she eventually sidles over to her.]
You don't look very happy to be here, either.
[But at least Liara doesn't look out of place, which is what initially grabbed her attention.]
no subject
[Liara didn't even notice Hawke sit beside her, too lost in attempting to get any contact to respond that wasn't currently locked on Omega. She was having no such luck and after a few moments she gave up and closed her omni-tool.]
Sorry if I'm being rude, today is just shaping up to be an irritation.
no subject
[Hawke's not exactly in the best of moods herself, but she's had a fairly awful week as it stands. The change of pace, while exciting, is definitely unwanted.]
You know how to work that device, though.
[Which stands to reason...]
Have you been here before?
no subject
[Part of Liara isn't surprised that Hawke doesn't understand how to work it with how she's dressed. Today is just becoming more and more bizarre.]
You just touch it here to activate it, it's all touch activated.
[She'll show Hawke on her own wrist where the bracelet is located and then open up the omni-tool.]
As for where we are, it's a space station called Omega. It's known for being lawless and dirty.
no subject
[She watches Liara fuss with hers, memorizing where she touches, how it's activated. She tries on her own, opening it up. It's certainly vibrant and she'll need to practice with it. ...Later, though, where she won't look so foolish around strangers.]
Sorry. This sort of thing is...a bit beyond me. I'm not used to it.
[Understatement. But what she says next has Hawke raising an eyebrow.]
Wonderful news. And here I'd been hoping that all of the rubble and damage was just for show.
no subject
[But Liara will look at the rubble, it's new and she knows exactly what the cause is. SHe idly wonders how Aria is handling all the destruction in her station.]
The rubble and damage are new, but there was a large fight recently for the control of the station. It's back in the proper hands now, but you can see the result of the struggle with the rubble around. That being said Omega's never been terribly clean.
no subject
So there's hope for me yet. Thank you.
[The congenial expression is fleeting, easily giving way to knit brows and concern that shows up in her eyes but not quite on her face.]
When you said 'dirty', you weren't being entirely literal, were you? [Why is this place reminding her of home?] What can you tell me about this place?
no subject
[Liara will sigh at how easily Hawke picks up on the grim fact that this is Omega.]
Both literally and figuratively. Omega is a station that's notorious for housing outlaws. Gangs, mercenaries, assassins, drug dealers, slavery, prostitution, if it's illegal you'll find it here. Too bad there's nothing to really be done about the pollution or how run down the station is getting.
no subject
[Well, at least it can't be any worse than Kirkwall, right? ...Right? It's a small comfort that Hawke's wandering into a nest that seems familiar. But with her surroundings not only foreign but out of her capabilities, she's wondering how well she's going to manage.]
I'm fairly surprised at how it smells. I thought it might have just been the rubble but there's...something else.
[Ash, maybe. Ash and an acrid taste on the air.]
no subject
[She really doesn't want to go into how bad some of the mercenaries smell, but as for the rest of Omega it just reminds her of how badly her lungs are likely fairing.]
no subject
[Congratulations, Liara, you have successfully managed to kick Hawke's coherence off into space.]
Is the economy that poor here that people aren't better off?
no subject
[But she'll pause and try to ask Hawke how she doesn't know what an asteroid is without seeming terribly rude.]
Do you not know what an asteroid is?
[Well she tried.]
no subject
To her question, Hawke has the decency to look sheepish.]
I...don't. Let's just say I'm fairly certain I'm from somewhere very, very unknown to this place.
no subject
I think you're going to need a lot of questions answered.
no subject
That...makes a little more sense. [She smiles.] And I know I'm going to need help. I'm not used to being so lost.
no subject
no subject
[She'll need to introduce Omega's brand to a fistful of lightning.]
I'm just trying to figure out how I got here. There are no...shuttles where I'm from. We don't have any of this.
['This' being...everything.]
no subject
I guess you'll just need to try to survive here until something answers itself or makes it able for you to return home.
no subject
And what will you do? You're more familiar with this place. Where would you start?
