watch out for falling space debris.

who. Anyone and everyone on the station.
what. Two shuttles come through the relay. Only one makes it through intact - and it's the one bringing in the new recruits.
where. All around the station, but most of the action will probably take place on and around the landing pads.
when. Right now.
warnings. General, mass hysteria. Not much else.

It's that time again. Time for that shuttle to come through the relay and bring in a new batch of people that don't know where they are or why. This is something that everyone has gotten used to, and doesn't think much of.

This time, though, something is different. And because no one is expecting it, it catches the entire station by surprise. Two shuttles come through the relay, and while that's more than surprising enough, what happens next, no one is expecting.

One of the shuttles explodes. Out in the dead of space between the relay and the station, it bursts into a thousand smaller pieces. The debris left behind tells nothing of what had been on the shuttle, or who for that matter, but the fact remains that this wasn't supposed to happen.

Which means people are going to wonder why it happened in the first place.

With the newcomers arriving on the station, there's going to be enough confusion going on, but with the shuttle explosion tacked on to the end? It's going to raise some suspicion.

This log is not only for the newcomers to mingle about, but also to gauge reactions about the shuttle exploding. To speculate on why it happened, and generally allow for all kinds of reactions all throughout the station. You can assume that by the time the shuttle with our new characters has landed, news of the explosion has travelled through most of the station. Please see the OOC post for more information.

Have fun, and try not to freak out too much.

Her answer was less than reassuring. He slipped his arm through the handle of his battery so he could cross his arms, a habit he had been picking up from the earthmen.

"An organizational system like this wouldn't exist in Guardian Space without being investigated, in which case we're outside the jurisdiction of the Green Lanterns. If the relay you spoke us brought the shuttles through from alternate dimensions, it would be logical to assume the inter-dimensional displacement could be utilized form this side as well, correct?"

"If 'Guardian Space' is anything like Council Space then you're right, this system wouldn't last but we're in the Terminus Systems. That means that you're in the lawless part of the galaxy, everyone makes their own rules."

His theory about the Omega-4 relay was a little more complex than she wanted to admit. Sighing and running a han over her face she thought about his question.

"In theory the inter-dimensional displacement could be reactivate just the same as when the shuttles come through, although the issue stands is that we don't know why it's acting the way it is. As far as it's known the Omega-4 relay only connects to a relay at the galaxy's centre disk which is just exploding stars and black holes. It's never done this before so it's unknown how we would get it to reverse the process from this side."

"A transportation mechanism leading to the galactic core? I can't imagine why such a device would be of much use."

He was still trying piece together an answer. Having a theory at least gave him a place to begin in trying to find a way back to Oa.

"I suppose it could be possible that energy feedback from the stellar activity at the other relay could cause this one to malfunction, creating a rift in the dimensional barrier...though you make it sound as if this phenomenon is recent, which means the relay was previously capable of withstanding that kind of energy flux...how frequently has the relay been displaying this behavior?"

spinelessdecoder: (well that's mildly surprising)

"In the last 50 000 years there has been no record of this ever happening. Before that, we don't know since all the records were virtually wiped from the galaxy thanks to the reapers." And she was fairly certain that whomever created the two relays would've compensated for such an easy error as that.

"This has only been happening for a couple of months now, the fact that shuttle are bringing people out of the Omega-4 relay from other worlds and dimensions is highly disturbing. Something is very wrong there."

"Is anyone investigating these occurances, someone I could speak to and gain a little more information?" From how the station was run, he wasn't expecting a positive answer, but it didn't hurt to ask.

"Personally, I don't know, but I had to guess I'd look for Commander Shepard or any of the Normandy crew. Outside of that we're virtually on our own, especially when it concerns the Omega-4 relay." that was her best guess but she wouldn't hold her breath on getting much in the way of information.

"Thank you, for the information. I'll be sure to seek out more intel on this phenomenon at a later time."

His posture changed as he considered his next question, shifting his weight slightly as he glanced around the shuttle bay, catching sight of the other new arrivals.

"If there is no way off the station, so you have any general advice or is there any recommended process for newly displaced persons?"

"My advice would be to find a job and a place to sleep for now. We've been give Zeta district to call our own. Just find a vacant apartment, some furniture and get a good lock. That district isn't the safest."

Following his gaze to the other new arrivals, Pax couldn't help but know how crappy everything must seem for the majority of them.

He gave a small hiss in frustration, rubbing his beak on the back of his wrist. If she was suggesting finding a job then he was likely going to be stuck here far longer than he intended.

"Would you be able to offer direction to this Zeta district?"

"I can walk you down there if you want, not much else for me to do here since I don't see who I was looking for. If not just take the lift over there down to Zeta, it's marked on the buttons."

She'll gesture behind her to where the elevator was, the only indication it was there was the slightly different stained metal against the rest of it.
xudarlantern: (Surprised GLTAS)

He looked over to where she was gesturing, frowning as he managed to pick out the elevator form the rest of the wall. If the rest of the station shared this design, navigating it would be a little more difficult than he anticipated.

"A guide would be most appreciated, if it won't trouble you too much."
