watch out for falling space debris.
who. Anyone and everyone on the station.
what. Two shuttles come through the relay. Only one makes it through intact - and it's the one bringing in the new recruits.
where. All around the station, but most of the action will probably take place on and around the landing pads.
when. Right now.
warnings. General, mass hysteria. Not much else.
It's that time again. Time for that shuttle to come through the relay and bring in a new batch of people that don't know where they are or why. This is something that everyone has gotten used to, and doesn't think much of.
This time, though, something is different. And because no one is expecting it, it catches the entire station by surprise. Two shuttles come through the relay, and while that's more than surprising enough, what happens next, no one is expecting.
One of the shuttles explodes. Out in the dead of space between the relay and the station, it bursts into a thousand smaller pieces. The debris left behind tells nothing of what had been on the shuttle, or who for that matter, but the fact remains that this wasn't supposed to happen.
Which means people are going to wonder why it happened in the first place.
With the newcomers arriving on the station, there's going to be enough confusion going on, but with the shuttle explosion tacked on to the end? It's going to raise some suspicion.
This log is not only for the newcomers to mingle about, but also to gauge reactions about the shuttle exploding. To speculate on why it happened, and generally allow for all kinds of reactions all throughout the station. You can assume that by the time the shuttle with our new characters has landed, news of the explosion has travelled through most of the station. Please see the OOC post for more information.
Have fun, and try not to freak out too much.

Somewhere, in the back of his mind, there's a tiny little voice that says it isn't her fault. That she hadn't done any of this of her own volition, that it had been the voice of a dead man that had driven her to everything. That it was all she could do to go along with it, because she hadn't known that it wasn't real.
Derek at least has it in him to lower his gaze when she finally speaks up again, when she starts in on him like everything that had happened to her had been his fault. There's a breath caught in the back of his throat, in the shape of something he's trying to say and doesn't quite know how to get out -
I'm sorry -
Like it really is his fault this had happened to her in the first place. Of course, she hadn't asked to be strung along with the rest of them, to get dragged into werewolf business once Jackson had made himself a part of it. But he doesn't say it, unable to make his mouth form two simple words, three syllables that could have meant the difference between remaining indifferent and letting something else show for a change.
He swallows, eyes trained on the floor beneath her feet before he forces his gaze upward again, hazel mirroring green, expression carefully blank. "Then start talking." There's a slight tilt of his head to the side.
"It's not like you don't have the time, now."

Swallowing, she keeps her gaze locked on him even if she's still not sure that she's processing what's around her anymore. It's a numbing feeling to have let things be pushed from her so quickly.
He speaks and she's pretty sure that isn't what she wants to hear. The lack of anything in his features makes her feel smaller. Like all the things she said, everything she let go of isn't enough. That he's still expecting more, that there's something she owes him.
She makes a soft sound, regret might be tucked in there, but she's not sure as her brow furrows in a moment of hurt. She lets it pass, her expression slipping back to something uncaring, "Actually, I don't have the time. Not for you."
It's the one time she hasn't put everyone else and their questions, their needs ahead of herself. "The other shuttle still has people I should check on." It's an excuse and a really shitty one at that, but she's not doing this.
She won't let another Hale Werewolf push at her again.

He'd been doing just fine in his head. The thoughts swirling around, the concern for the human girl in front of him were all valid. To express them would mean giving over something that wasn't the normal, ineffable neutrality and aloofness that always followed him around. Surrounded him in a fog that never quite dissipated, and mostly because he never bothered to step away from it.
If she thinks he doesn't see that flicker of her expression, that hurt that slides across her features before she manages to get ahold of herself, she's wrong. And it makes something in him twist, something deep in the middle of his chest and he realizes that Peter is the reason she's hurting so much.
His blood is the reason. And it makes him grit his teeth, a sudden flare of anger he can feel in the pit of his stomach, a heat that has him clenching his hands into fists.
He's feigned uncaring for so long that it's nothing less than second nature to him now. And it's something that he needs to stop.
".. Wait," he hears himself say, though it sounds disjointed - like it's just the echo he's hearing. Just one syllable seems to bounce around in the space between them, and he holds her gaze.
"I'm sorry. That wasn't something you needed to hear."

"No, it wasn't but that didn't stop you from saying it," she retorts, the edge of ice forming on her words easily.
She exhales in frustration, shaking her head, "I can't believe out of everything -- I get an apology from you over this. Nothing from the past, but for this."
Lydia's mouth purses, a near sour expression that borders to her thoughtful one, "What do you think I need to hear?"

It isn't forced. Just a little strained, because he doesn't make a habit out of being sorry for anything. Especially things that aren't necessarily his fault.
He doesn't respond to what she says first, because it's what he deserves. Even if it has the hair on the back of his neck standing on edge, jaw muscles tightening even further as he continues to grit his teeth.
"That it wasn't your fault, and you didn't deserve it." He doesn't have any right to excuse or justify - or forgive anything his dead uncle had done until she'd managed to bring him back from the dead, but it doesn't keep him from saying it.
no subject
The words are accurate, it's what she wants to hear, but she knows that it's not really his place to say it. She allows a small nod, a soft gesture to acknowledge that he is right with his estimation. She doesn't accept his words though. She won't allow it to be passed off to someone else.
"I don't think any of us deserved to be pulled into that, but it happened."
no subject
He knows what he's said is accurate, and the simple fact alone that she refuses to accept them has him wanting to roll his eyes. Peter won't ever apologize for what he's done - why can't she accept this from him regardless of where it's coming from?
His gaze begins to narrow, but he manages to stop himself, because getting irritated with her stubbornness isn't going to help anything. His arms fold across his chest as he says, "But you aren't going to accept that from me."
A statement, not a question. He knows better than to ask.
no subject
"Not right now, no." It's not to say that she hasn't heard them or that she doesn't appreciate his attempt, but truthfully she feels as though she forced them out of him. That she asked him plainly what he thought she needed to hear. To her this is what he believes she needs to hear and in her mind it lessens the meaning. It's also not his apology to make and she knows that Derek realizes that.
There's not really left to say. Nothing that he can explain for her. The lies came from her friends and Stiles already covered his part of it. That's all she can expect right now.
The one thing that's in her mind right now is the fact that he's here and what that could mean if Peter ever showed up. There's also the thought that what is Derek going to do here? Is he really going to try and find a way to create more werewolves? Can he even do that here?
All questions to ask Stiles, which she's planning on doing shortly.

He nods at her response, understanding. There isn't anything he can do about how she feels, how left out of the loop she's been. No one in her circle of friends trusts him, despite the fact that there had been a tentative alliance between all of them when they'd been dealing with Jackson - but that's all behind him, and though he's tried to make amends for something that he isn't even responsible for, there's nothing left to say.
She might have questions about his intentions here on the station, but if he's entirely honest, he doesn't even know what he's going to do here. Once he's figured out how things operate, what he can do - it might be different, but for the moment, he's just as clueless as everyone else that had come off that shuttle.
"Fine," he finally says, after a few moments of silence. His expression has melted back into something more neutral, less insightful as to what's going on in his head.

"What's the last thing you did before you came here?" She's waiting for it to be that he killed Jackson or that he'd been in the ruins of his house while she raised his uncle from the dead.
