watch out for falling space debris.

who. Anyone and everyone on the station.
what. Two shuttles come through the relay. Only one makes it through intact - and it's the one bringing in the new recruits.
where. All around the station, but most of the action will probably take place on and around the landing pads.
when. Right now.
warnings. General, mass hysteria. Not much else.

It's that time again. Time for that shuttle to come through the relay and bring in a new batch of people that don't know where they are or why. This is something that everyone has gotten used to, and doesn't think much of.

This time, though, something is different. And because no one is expecting it, it catches the entire station by surprise. Two shuttles come through the relay, and while that's more than surprising enough, what happens next, no one is expecting.

One of the shuttles explodes. Out in the dead of space between the relay and the station, it bursts into a thousand smaller pieces. The debris left behind tells nothing of what had been on the shuttle, or who for that matter, but the fact remains that this wasn't supposed to happen.

Which means people are going to wonder why it happened in the first place.

With the newcomers arriving on the station, there's going to be enough confusion going on, but with the shuttle explosion tacked on to the end? It's going to raise some suspicion.

This log is not only for the newcomers to mingle about, but also to gauge reactions about the shuttle exploding. To speculate on why it happened, and generally allow for all kinds of reactions all throughout the station. You can assume that by the time the shuttle with our new characters has landed, news of the explosion has travelled through most of the station. Please see the OOC post for more information.

Have fun, and try not to freak out too much.

Regardless of whether the explosion happened or not, Jake would have been running to the landing pad to check out the latest arrivals. As was, instead of running, he was sprinting. The news hadn't been the most informative; it didn't mention anything about who was on the shuttle that exploded. It didn't have a casualty list, a list of injured, or anything that could have been remotely helpful. That in itself was worrisome (Was Jane on board? Roxy? UU? How about Aranea?), and he couldn't help anxiously lingering around the landing pad to try and spot any of his chums.

Unsurprisingly (but disappointingly), he didn't spot any one of them. He would have preferred to see them to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were safe, but... well, they weren't around. There were no traces of Jane or Roxy. There weren't any of Aranea either, not that he was looking for her as much as the others. If UU was around, he didn't recognize her (actually, now that he thought about it he didn't know anything about her appearance. All he knew was that she was a Troll) either. Jake sighed to himself, trying not to worry but finding it difficult to shrug off his concerns.

Finding himself standing around with very little else to do, Jake decides to take another scan of the crowd and that's when he spots what looks like a troll. He can't see the telltale horns from his current spot but he THINKS the gray skinned alien looks similar enough. With a vague hope that it might be UU, he inches forward and taps the unfamiliar person on the shoulder.

"Excuse me there, I don't mean to be a bother but... Are you a troll?"

The tap was enough to interrupt the steady mental mantra Karkat had been viciously trapped in. He whirled around, not really stopping to see who or what was asking the question. "No... I'm your motherfucking fairy custodian, here to make your wildest fantasies become reality. Yes, I'm a troll! What was your first clue?"

Give Karkat some credit, he did cringe a little upon speaking. Way to go. Not even here for an hour and he was already running his mouth off before thinking about the words that are spewing from his trap. Great way to start things off in some universe he knew nothing about, right? There were times he really needed to stop reacting to a stimulus and now happened to be one of those moments. That being said, Karkat wasn't about to apologize either. Instead he just crossed his arms over his chest and gave the human a look over. He didn't see any of the humans' dancestors - if that term even applied here Karkat didn't know and didn't care - in the dreambubbles before.

Still, there was no denying the similarities this guy had to Jade and John. Karkat wasn't about to assume, but what were the chances? Maybe this really was the new game session and it had already gone to shit. No one knew what to expect, really...

"And you are?"
