This is the start of something bigger.
who. Everyone on Omega.
what. The station finds out about the state of Thessia - in that it is now being taken over by the Reapers.
where. Various places all over the station.
when. Immediately. Right now.
warnings. None as of yet, other than general panic and chaos.
It begins like any other day on the station. The sun isn't shining, the grass isn't green - there are vorcha sleeping in back alleys and krogans still drunk on ryncol trying to start fights with anyone passing by, but that's just another day in the life of a patron of Omega.
Except today, there is something different. It's not in the air, at least not yet.
During Cerberus' occupation of the station, handy little devices known as quantum entanglement communicators were installed to allow communication with The Illusive Man, and though Cerberus is no longer on Omega, their devices remain. It was likely that this was the only way Aria could maintain contact during her exile, and thus the only reason they remain now that she's back - but that's neither here nor there.
Today, there's something different coming through. Not the usual galactic noise, the static that bleeds into everything else where the station is concerned. Today, it's something completely different.
The Reapers have invaded Thessia. Asari commandos have held them off for as long as they possibly can, but there is only so much they can do with limited resources. And as the news makes its way around the station, everyone seems to react differently, but the song remains the same: ultimately, chaos will ensue. It's only a matter of time.
Why all the worry? The asari are the most advanced race in the galaxy. If they don't have the means to hold the Reapers off, no one does. It's hopeless.
We encourage you, as players, to plot and thread as you see fit - how your characters will react to the news, how they will be affected, etc. There will be some starter threads below, but you are more than welcome to start your own.

Re: Market District
But aren't there people from other galaxies here? [she's reluctant to out herself as one, but her massively antiquated clothing might give that one away.] Wouldn't there be someone more advanced? It's some kind of... law of averages, or whatever.
Re: Market District
[Liara's trying to explain, mostly she's still upset that she has to live through this again without any way of getting to or contacting anyone on Thessia.]
Re: Market District
Re: Market District
[She's explaining the best she can to her without getting overly complicated. It's a big issue, bigger than Liara feels she can explain.]
The relays are Reaper technology, if it's broken then it's a very difficult and complicated task to even find what has gone wrong, then to fix it would be a larger task again.
Re: Market District
Of course. Then what can we do from here? Just because nobody thinks they stand a chance doesn't mean we can sit around and take it!
Re: Market District
What we need to do is fix the relay, but so far no one knows what is wrong with it.
[Liara will give her a patient smile, she knows how frustrating this is. She's barely holding together as it is. Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.]
Re: Market District
[she knows that she's probably annoying the hell out of this poor woman, but this is important! this is whether or not she gets to live long enough to get out of here! ...and probably about saving the lives of everyone on the asteroid, too.]
Re: Market District
[But her question will make Liara pause and think for a moment. Rally the mercenaries and the rest of the local populace. It was a long shot but if Aria managed to do it against Cerberus then it might be possible to rally others together.]
No, it's not like kingdoms at war, it's closer to fighting against bands of deities. I'm not sure how you'd go about getting mercenaries to fight reapers, no one has that much money, even if some of the gangs may be running scared because of the news about Thessia.
Re: Market District
Well, wouldn't a Reaper invasion break the first rule of this place? I don't know Aria that well, but I really don't think she'll let them get very far without some huge resistance.
Re: Market District
Aria likely has some scheme, she's not about to go down without a battle.
Re: Market District
[and her cockiness disappears as quickly as it showed up. instead, now, she looks determined.]
We're repair workers. The relay needs to be repaired. So we'll figure it out. Great! I think I know what we have to do to fix everything. [has she even been listening?] Thanks for this talk.

Re: Market District
Re: Market District
[Liara's just going to let her believe what she will.]
Re: Market District
[oh right, she never got this person's name, did she?]
Re: Market District
Re: Market District
[this can only end poorly.]
