Go on. Amaze me. (Closed)
who. Otoya (
falcon_bait ) and Haruto (
bearerofhope )
what. A magic show of sorts
where. Near the entrance to the residential district
when. Before the event
warnings. N/A
Absentmindedly Otoya glanced down at his wrist, more out of habit than actual curiosity as to the time. The Stuhrling watch he had received from his grandfather remained on his wrist, though Otoya could not even be sure it was keeping correct time any more. Was time on this... station... different from Earth? Undoubtedly, he was sure. Hell, he didn't even know what solar system he was in, let alone how far this place was from the system's sun. Add that to the long list of questions he wanted answers to.
He lifted his eyes from the watch face, glancing about the small alleyway. He could just make out the main walkway past some crates, a thin trickle of beings either coming or going just beyond them. The noise was a murmur from Otoya's position, which he preferred. He would take the hum of machinery over the strange languages and harsh comments any day of the week. On the whole, the student preferred to keep to himself. Don't cause trouble where one can avoid it, don't interact with the odd beings if one could avoid it... However, today, he was breaking that rule.
Leaning forward, Otoya frowned towards the crates. Magic. He allowed himself to scoff. More than likely it would be parlor tricks, but hey. At least it gave him something to do with his afternoon - and perhaps this man had a few answers to some of Otoya's many questions.

He tilted his head to the side as he watched Otoya study the weapon, wondering why he was trying so hard to prove himself to someone. There were plenty of skeptics back where he came from. Maybe it was just to have the chance to talk to someone about what he was capable of. Being alone and away from everyone was something he seemed to be treating lightly, but it was tearing at him that he couldn't be back home. How was Koyomi doing? Would she be able to get enough mana? What about the Gates? Nitou could handle some of them, of course, but... If someone fell into despair because he was here...
Something like this was a welcome distraction. Focusing on something when he couldn't change anything else.
"When I gained the ability to use magic, that was part of what I got from the man who met me. ... technically, I can use magic on my own. Everything I use is just a channel."

He shut his eyes, bringing his free hand to his forehead in annoyance. The study of the object wasn't what he was there for. The fact that the object existed was what plagued him. It existed and apparently appeared out of thin air - and honestly Otoya couldn't conjure up facts to prove this theory differently. The very idea that the man standing before him had just, in a single moment, proven scientific thinking incorrect positively infuriated him. However, instead of showing his anger, Otoya bowed and held out the weapon.
"It's a fascinating piece. If I could, I would like to study it further, when you have time." Once the sword? was back in Haruto's possession, Otoya returned to his post against the wall, deep in thought. He supposed it shouldn't have shocked him so - the fact that magic existed. After all, he was here when, by all accounts, he should still be in Tokyo.

"I'm not sure if I want you to study me, but you can follow me around and ask me questions if you want. The thing is, I probably don't know all the smart stuff you want to ask me about it. This stuff just happens. There's no real reason for it. ... aah." He made a face at that. "... well, there is a reason, but not one you can study."

Ah, there it was. Continuing to frown, the brunette uncrossed his arms. "Simply because it isn't tangible doesn't limit personal studies. My thesis is based off theories over facts." That was what science was, for the most part. Theories.

"I'm sorry. I'll slow down." He would treat the situation as though he were with Falcon. "Where exactly do your powers come from? Have you always had them, or has it only been since you arrived on Omega?" He had other questions, but believed if he asked any more, the young man before him may become overwhelmed. "There are more, but they can wait until those are answered."
