warnings. Nothing as of yet, will update accordingly.

Scenario I: Zeta District- If one is to be stuck somewhere for an extended period of time, it's a good idea to get a feel for the neighborhood. Poke around in corners and all that, get weird looks from NPC's. Like moving into any new place.

Getting to know the neighbors is probably a good idea too. He's not going door to door introducing himself or anything, but he's more than happy to chat with anyone who approaches.

Y'know, assuming you don't come at him with a shotgun. He's prepared for that, too.

Scenario II: Afterlife- Outside or inside. If outside, Kirrahe is hanging around near a group of whiny alien NPC's, nonchalantly listening in to whatever random conversation they're having. The elcor bouncer keeps giving him weird looks, but Kirrahe doesn't seem to care.

If inside, he's doing much of the same, though is likely spending much of his time cloaked (most likely how he got in in the first place 8U). If he's not hanging out near a random wall, he'll be at the bar. You'd be surprised how much information you can pick up from a bunch of drunks.

Scenario III: Omega Market- Seeing as Kirrahe's weapons and equipment are outdated by a good three years, you bet your ass he's going to be out price checking. Whether or not he'll actually be able to afford any of this stuff in the near future remains to be seen. Still, weapons can make for interesting conversations.

Too young wasn't far from the truth, considering that Kengo was still a student back home. At the very least, he'd been living on his own for his entire life, so it wasn't too much of a shock to alone for the last three weeks that he had been on Omega. Leaning forward, Kengo motioned at the nearby kiosk located next to him on the counter.

"Ariake seems to be the primary provider for omni-tools, as far as I can tell. If you look through the options on the kiosk, you can get a good idea of what we offer and what the specs are as far as current models. I can provide any of them if you'd like a closer look at any of the features, as well." He didn't personally know much about omni-blades, but he knew he'd at least want one in the future. That was more of a military thing, though. He knew that much. Did that mean this salarian had military ties?

"I apologize in advance if I'm not as knowledgeable as you'd like. I'm about one hundred and seventy-five years behind on the current technology, but I'm doing my best to catch up. It's no trouble to contact my boss if you need information I don't have."

"We haven't colonized anything. My father was part of a project around the time I was born. There was a research base on Luna staffed by him and a handful of other scientists. That's the most advanced our civilization is at the time I came from." Considering that he was talking to those generally unfamiliar with the area he was from, Kengo felt it was proper to default to the moon's actual name.

At the very least, it felt nice to talk about his father again. It still made him a bit uncomfortable when he thought of how he'd essentially failed the man by being ripped from his home and unable to complete his father's work and goals, but it wasn't something Kengo could help now.
mathemagician: (You made him cry again.)

"If it had happened in the time I was alive, I would be able to tell you. I'm from 2011." Kengo really was quite a bit of a space nerd. It was how he knew exactly where the Omega Nebula was and what it's relation to Earth was, as far as how far away they were. Not that it was a good thing to know he was five thousand light years from home, but at least it was somewhere that he knew existed.

At the question about the research, Kengo tried to get his thoughts together. "My father was researching something known as cosmic energy. The only person I've spoken to about it compared it to dark energy. It's similar, but not the same. From what I keep hearing about it, it's actually closer in function to element zero, but unlimited in its supply once you know how to utilize it. I took up his research..." He paused to take an uncomfortable breath. "... last year. He passed away around the time I was born. Any technology I've ever created has been based on cosmic energy. I don't have the materials here to see if it's something I can still work with or not."

There was a small, amused look at that as Kengo glanced away to look down the hall at the rest of the shoppers. "My father also studied the possibility of life in other places aside from Earth. It'd be a dream come true for him to be here." Something like that made him think that he should appreciate his luck more, but Kengo would have appreciated it a lot more if he hadn't been taken from the specific circumstances he'd left under.
mathemagician: (It's all over now.)

While it didn't mean much to hear it now, Kengo had still appreciated the kind words. It made him realize how hard it was to come across something like that in the world he was in.

"I haven't had a chance to work with it yet. This job is less about my own survival and more about being able to have enough money for my research. There are things I want to see if I can recreate using it, until I have access to my own tools again." Whether or not he would end up going home, but Kengo still didn't consider 'home' an option anymore.

He kept his hands on the counter, picking nervously at the surface. "This place is a lot different from where I came from. Earth was fairly calm, aside from what my friends and I were dealing with." ... had he ever called him his friends before? He wasn't sure. "It's good to know humanity makes it this far."

Those words brought the first familiar ping of what Kengo had referred to as his 'white noise' -- the feeling in the background his entire life that had completely disappeared since arriving on Omega. It was as though, for a moment, he'd gone back to normal. Kengo turned his head away and let out a breath, still unsure of exactly what it meant.

Kengo had been doing his fair share of research and questioning about the other races on Omega in the last week, mostly because he had figured by now that he wouldn't be going home any time soon. It wouldn't do any good to neglect his surroundings while hoping everything would go back to normal. He had an idea about Salarian life spans, thanks to the fact that he worked under one, but most of his knowledge so far was centered on Quarians after sharing a room with one for so long.

"At this point, there wouldn't be much left for me even if I could make it home. What I was fighting for would already be lost. I can either let it destroy me, or try force myself to push through it." Kengo cleared his throat at that, clearly embarrassed at having opened up so much. It was a habit he kept falling into, considering he had so few people to talk to. He'd gotten used to having friends. "Back home, I'm not considered an adult yet. I'm still fairly young."

(Sorry for the slow response, I was out of town for the weekend. D| )
mathemagician: (You were my friend.)

Well, Kengo was the top student in his school, coupled with the fact that he spent most of his life working on projects and studying and doing research. He was the type of person who didn't need a social life, though he'd been forced into having one for the last few months.

"Someone I've lost wouldn't want me to give up." Kengo left it at that, but it was clear from the few things he'd hinted at that he'd been through quite a lot, even though he was so young.
mathemagician: (But why did you touch him?)

[personal profile] mathemagician 2013-03-20 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Wanting to avoid creating more of an awkward atmosphere, Kengo pushed himself away from the counter. He messed with items in the near vicinity, but was intent on keeping most of his attention focused elsewhere. If he kept busy, then maybe it would make things a little less uncomfortable.

"Was there anything else you wanted to know?" It felt strange to just cut off the conversation like that. The other was still a customer as well, so Kengo had an obligation to be polite and helpful. Even if they weren't talking about the items he was trying to sell.
