LOG. OPEN. SHENANIGANS WELCOME.
who. Kirrahe (
motivationalspeaker), OPEN
what. A Choose your own adventure style log. Kirrahe's out gathering intel and exploring and you get to decide where you meet him
where. We'll get to that.
when. Any time during the week.
warnings. Nothing as of yet, will update accordingly.
Scenario I: Zeta District- If one is to be stuck somewhere for an extended period of time, it's a good idea to get a feel for the neighborhood. Poke around in corners and all that, get weird looks from NPC's. Like moving into any new place.
Getting to know the neighbors is probably a good idea too. He's not going door to door introducing himself or anything, but he's more than happy to chat with anyone who approaches.
Y'know, assuming you don't come at him with a shotgun. He's prepared for that, too.
Scenario II: Afterlife- Outside or inside. If outside, Kirrahe is hanging around near a group of whiny alien NPC's, nonchalantly listening in to whatever random conversation they're having. The elcor bouncer keeps giving him weird looks, but Kirrahe doesn't seem to care.
If inside, he's doing much of the same, though is likely spending much of his time cloaked (most likely how he got in in the first place 8U). If he's not hanging out near a random wall, he'll be at the bar. You'd be surprised how much information you can pick up from a bunch of drunks.
Scenario III: Omega Market- Seeing as Kirrahe's weapons and equipment are outdated by a good three years, you bet your ass he's going to be out price checking. Whether or not he'll actually be able to afford any of this stuff in the near future remains to be seen. Still, weapons can make for interesting conversations.

Crossing his arms, he glanced over at the weapon the human pointed out.
"Ah. That's a sniper rifle. They're designed with a built in scope, and can hit a target from a long range. That style of rifle is deadly in the hands of someone with the right training. The fact that you haven't seen any mercenaries with them is unsurprising. Snipers make a point of staying hidden. During combat situations they generally stay away from the main groups, usually setting up somewhere with a good view of the battlefield."
He shifted a bit and leaned against the counter, nodding toward a display of smaller guns.
"The sniper rifle is reliable, but they usually aren't good for close range combat unless you have a good cloak. A smaller side arm like a pistol or sub-machine gun is a good back up weapon to carry with you."

"Tactical cloak. It renders the user invisible, making them damn near impossible to spot on the battlefield. It's usually employed by infiltration classes, often military. I'm honestly not sure if any of the mercenary teams on Omega have groups like that. I doubt the Blood Pack would, at least."
no subject
"You mentioned a sub-machine gun? That is the type that unleashes multiple projectiles with each pull of the trigger, correct?"
no subject
Since they were already chatting about guns, Kirrahe points out another display.
"If you're looking for something rapid fire that packs more of a punch, I'd recommend an assault rifle. It's the same idea as the SMG, just bigger and designed to deal more damage."

'Stones'? Come to think of it, if this guy was referring to ammunition as stones, he likely had no idea what a heat clip even was. Feeling it may be rude, if not at least a bit awkward to ask just how primitive this guy was, Kirrahe figured it was best to change up the subject. At least for the time being.
"Ah, my apologies. We've been sitting here chatting this whole time, and I never even bothered to introduce myself. My name is Kirrahe, I've just arrived here recently."
no subject
"The name's Xiahou Dun. I've been here a month. A pleasure to meet you, Kirrahe."
And because Kirrahe's been nice enough to explain things to him, Dun actually obliges the salarian with a simple and casual Chinese salute. Dun is actually slightly amused at the situation; this is the first time he's greeted someone courteously since he's been here, and it's to a cricket-frog creature, not a human. Kirrahe probably doesn't even know that Dun is giving him a bit more respect than he's shown anyone else, but after a month of living in Omega Dun has come to realise that a lot of the subtlety that comes with Chinese culture isn't shared with everyone.
no subject
"Likewise. I've heard the mercenaries around here can cause quite a bit of trouble, to survive for even a month is nothing short of impressive."
no subject
"It's hardly impressive. Perhaps the giant ugly ones are hard to take down, but once you get close enough to cut they all bleed the same."
He is playing down the mercs actual capabilities; his ribs are still healing from a Blood Pack ambush around his first week on Omega and the recent Adjutant event hadn't done him any favours either. But Dun will not give the mercenaries a single shred of acknowledgement if he can help it. In his view, they're nothing more than untrained trigger happy and bloodthirsty scoundrels.
"They know how to aim, I'll give them that much. But I've yet to meet one that can provide me with a real challenge."
no subject
Kirrahe couldn't tell if this guy was overly confident or was actually capable of putting down a krogan with nothing but a blade. If it was the former, Dun here probably wouldn't last too much longer. False bravado wouldn't help against an angry krogan, much less an angry krogan charging at you with a shotgun.
On the other hand, this guy probably did kick that much ass. It certainly wasn't impossible, Kirrahe was personally antiquated with a salarian that had successfully killed a charging krogan with a pitchfork.
Well, there was really only one way to find out.
"Either way, it sounds like you're certainly more than capable of protecting yourself. I can't help but wonder what sort of combat training you have."
no subject
And as boastful and arrogant as he sounds now, the simple fact of the matter is that he's probably speaking the truth because in the whole Wei faction there is none who can beat him in a one-on-one fight.
no subject
"That's quite the bold statement, human. I can't say I know anything about swords, but I wouldn't think them too effective in a setting like this. I must admit, I wouldn't mind seeing you in action at some point. Even if your techniques are outdated by today's standards, you still have an edge over most of Zeta District."
At least this guy had some form of combat training. A lot of the people Kirrahe had come across on Omega were sitting ducks at best.
no subject
"It would be difficult, if one were a novice. But I've fought my way out of an archer's ambush and the concept is nearly the same. Stay behind cover and advance when you can."
His smirk takes on a slightly menacing turn as he fondly remembers skewering a certain archer who thought it'd be fun to shoot an arrow at his eye.
"Most long-ranged weapon users seem to think that they've got a permanent advantage. The fools."
But that's enough about him. It's time for him to ask Kirrahe some questions too.
"What about yourself? You seem like a soldier who knows how to get things done."
no subject
"That would be a correct assumption. I'm a member of the salarian STG, or special tasks group. Specifically, I'm a Captain with the 3rd Infiltration Regiment. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you may have."

no subject
Hence Kirrahe's affinity for sniper rifles. Why fist fight a guy when you can drop him with a single shot?
no subject
Ah, so they're indirect fighters. Dun normally doesn't think much of them, but he's spoken to a few salarians and seen how weak they physically are. And he does recall an event where a batarian beat up a salarian till his body was like jelly, all broken bones.
If their bodies are naturally weaker than they had to make up for it in a different way. Dun still doesn't like that kind of fighting, but it's the best they can do.
"How many infiltrations have you seen? I'm guessing you use the sniper rifles and the cloak in your work. Are the STG trained in hand-to-hand combat as well?"
no subject
He certainly wasn't trying to be unfriendly, that's just how the STG operates.
"We're trained in multiple forms of combat, hand-to-hand techniques included. Sometimes parameters change, we have to be prepared for the unexpected. We aren't always physically capable of overpowering an opponent, most of our hand to hand training revolves around improvisation and using an opponent's body against them. I worked with a salarian who once killed a charging krogan with a pitch fork."
no subject
Dun does understand. He's been a soldier before and you just don't question your orders; you just do them.
"A pitch fork? I would've liked to see that. And I'd like to see what you can do as well. Decent sparring partners are hard to come by and I feel my skills slacking already. If you've got the time and if you're interested, how about you and me go a few rounds?"
no subject
"You know, I wouldn't mind that. It's rare that I have the opportunity to practice. Gives me a chance to learn something new as well. I'm available pretty much whenever, salarian sleep cycles leave us with a lot of free time."
no subject
no subject
"I'll be there. Any specific time, or do you have a preference?"
no subject
It's not how Dun envisaged his evening either, but he's itching for a good fight and if Kirrahe can deliver than he's in for a good time.
Well that was a great chat between the two, but time is ticking and Dun needs to get back to work. Nodding at Kirahhe, he says, "Unfortunately, I have to return to my work. I have enjoyed our meeting and I shall see you later. My thanks for the advice and the good conversation, Kirahhe." He repeats his earlier salute, reiterating his respect for the salarian before he turns and leaves the store.

[OOC: Shall I scoot on over to Dun's log for shenanigans~?]
