intro log

who. everyone!
what. entering omega.
where. landing pads
when. today
warnings. none for now

You’re not sure how it happened.

A minute ago, you had somewhere to go, someplace to be. Maybe something important to do, or maybe you were just going out to buy groceries. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter anymore.

You’re in some kind of transport -- a shuttle, given the turbulence and the sounds outside. You’re surrounded by strangers, some of whom might not even be the same species you are. There’s no point in asking. They don’t know how they got here either. The cockpit’s blocked off, like someone forgot to put in a door, and not even a glance at your omni-tool -- a holographic interface accessible by merely tapping the sensor on your left arm -- is any help.

You’ve only got a minute or so before the shuttle starts descending. There aren’t any windows -- this doesn’t look like a shuttle meant for long trips. When it finally touches down, the doors open automatically.

Before you are landing pads, abandoned equipment scattered about. There are other shuttles landing, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get off before yours dumps you out the door. Turn around, and you’re met with a hazy skyline, only half the buildings seem to be coming from above.

Welcome to Omega.

ooc notes
You’re free to expand past the landing area, but please start all threads here. Please remember that your character will not have housing until Aria makes a post granting it; it’ll be on [community profile] outsiders and linked here when it goes up.

Certainly. Have personally used farming equipment. Difficulty comes in number of species. Knowing whom to fight. Technological advances have made armor difficult to penetrate. Also increased number of biotics. Dangerous for someone with no knowledge. Some newcomers fighters. Will likely be fine. However, great number of civilians.

[Because there is no way some of these people have fought before, not like this.]

Personally salarian. Dalatrass rare female. Deals largely in clan and universal politics.

[No, not in this form but science has come a long way. Asari are the ones that can breed with everyone.]

Only one possibility. Currently considering others. May be universal experiment to answer inquiry of what occurs when large number of people thrown into strange environment. Unlikely, little data. Require more facts.

I'm sure if we're to be recruited for a war, we'll be given a fairly good idea of who we're supposed to be fighting. I hope, at least. It would be foolish to bring us here otherwise.

[Hawke cocks her head to the side.]

That's just asking for trouble. Most of them would probably kill one another rather than cooperate.
salarian_savant: (But not with medicine)

In agreement on both counts. Should have provided information on reapers if purpose here to fight. Hm.

[He'll have to think on it. He'll get back to you, likely with a lengthy dissertation that you won't actually read.]

Will accomplish nothing fighting amongst selves. None here responsible. Amount of power required immense. Could not be orchestrated by single individual.

[Don't be like Anders, Mordin. Nothing good comes from manifestos and dissertations. Hawke also stops reading after the first two.]

Not unless someone has the capability of tossing all logic and reason out the window with some of the places they've taken us from. I'm guessing there's no... [Oh no, her religion is going to show.] ...no Maker or-- Old God or something?
salarian_savant: (Bonus in good faith)

[personal profile] salarian_savant 2013-02-12 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Maybe Anders is like him! Regardless, he’s a scientist. It’s what he does. No one is going to change an old salarian ways at this point.]

Religion sensitive subject. Many races, many beliefs. Cannot prove existence of higher power. Synthetic race called Geth consider Reapers god-like. Designated Old-Machines. Disagree with assessment. Studied many religions. Personal belief lies similar to human hinduism. Wheel of life. Concept based on reincarnation. Fix mistakes in next life.

[Pause.]

Will not dispute beliefs. Welcome to believe as you wish. Until end of life, will not know truth.

Oh, don't I know it.

[Regardless of what she believes, she avoids mentioning it in public. People get too defensive over their theologies. Let them have it.]

Well, that's...appreciated. [Even if she didn't understand what half of that was.] I've never heard of Hinduism before or this...wheel of life. And despite how interesting religion may be, I'm not eager to discover what's on the other side.

[Whether the Golden City and the Maker exist or not... Well, she has evidence to dispute and confirm both. But that's neither here nor there.]

But there's no one common belief system on Omega, I gather?
salarian_savant: (Lots of ways to help people)

[personal profile] salarian_savant 2013-02-17 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
[He is in agreement. Let everyone think what they want and be content in it. There's no reason to create a stir by trying to shove his beliefs down someone's throat.]

Welcome to ask questions if interested. Will answer without hesitation. Comfortable in belief system. [He'll leave it up to her instead of actually rambling.] Have short period of time left. Religion aides in acceptance.

[No one will know until it comes right down to it.]

Omega galactic hub for dredges of universe. Multiple species from numerous planets. Each with own belief system. Some commonalities between them. No overarching themes.

I wouldn't know where to begin with the questions.

[And information about Omega and Aria was more important, frankly, for the time being. If there was time later, she could ask about religions and see where the conversation led.]

And it's always been like this, here, with all of these different types of...species? [Not what she's familiar with, sorry.] But not from different times, I suspect.
salarian_savant: (Few human groups would know me)

Questions may arise at later date. Will be available.

[He'll be fine with answering those questions too. Mordin believes in passing along knowledge when he can, particularly with as dangerous as Omega can be.]

Has been diverse for number of millenia. [Small smile because he's being friendly not because she is confused.] No recorded time travel by any known species.
