intro log

who. everyone!
what. entering omega.
where. landing pads
when. today
warnings. none for now

You’re not sure how it happened.

A minute ago, you had somewhere to go, someplace to be. Maybe something important to do, or maybe you were just going out to buy groceries. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter anymore.

You’re in some kind of transport -- a shuttle, given the turbulence and the sounds outside. You’re surrounded by strangers, some of whom might not even be the same species you are. There’s no point in asking. They don’t know how they got here either. The cockpit’s blocked off, like someone forgot to put in a door, and not even a glance at your omni-tool -- a holographic interface accessible by merely tapping the sensor on your left arm -- is any help.

You’ve only got a minute or so before the shuttle starts descending. There aren’t any windows -- this doesn’t look like a shuttle meant for long trips. When it finally touches down, the doors open automatically.

Before you are landing pads, abandoned equipment scattered about. There are other shuttles landing, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get off before yours dumps you out the door. Turn around, and you’re met with a hazy skyline, only half the buildings seem to be coming from above.

Welcome to Omega.

ooc notes
You’re free to expand past the landing area, but please start all threads here. Please remember that your character will not have housing until Aria makes a post granting it; it’ll be on [community profile] outsiders and linked here when it goes up.

[ Her eyes go wide just barely because like she thought earlier, Arthur is different. Much like the handful of guys in armor that all seemed to recognize each other, she assumes he's one of them, making a mental note to dig in at some point in the near future. Nothing malicious, just Lisbeth's curiosity spiking.

But she takes note of his description, the fact that Arthur gave away enough information while still being as vague as possible, much like Lisbeth herself. Doesn't like to be bothered, she assumes, but then again neither does she, except her need to know right now takes precedence. ]

You're different. Everyone else here was not from somewhere else.

[ A matter of fact statement, but it's how she determines if Arthur is worth speaking to more. ]

[ He assumes that her statement is true - though his running into York soon after this will prove it to be otherwise - and he presses his lips together in a thin expression. ]

Maybe I'm just an exceptionally unlucky guy, since I was trying to go home in the first place.

[ He might recognize it as curiosity but he hedges all the same. ]

[ Unlucky is putting it interestingly. ] Interesting. [ Lisbeth doesn't say anything for a while there, considering Arthur's words, simply because there's a ton of directions she can run with after that. ]

Was it completely different from your home? [ That on its own is another thing to ask, but that comes later. ]
soldad: (you're all right)

[ He doesn't know if she means where he was before, or where he is now. ]

Where I was before was a lot like this, but neither of them are even close to home. Not in any way that counted, at least.

[ Now they're edging into personal territory and Lisbeth has every intention of wanting to walk away from that. Home, or whatever definition of that exists, was not something she wanted to talk about, but the way Arthur describes everything else, she infers that maybe his actual home is rather modern. ]

But their basic universe functioned much like your own, right? Did you work in similar jobs there as you did at home?
soldad: (damn it)

[personal profile] soldad 2013-02-10 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ The truth is for Arthur, home has been on the move for the last couple years - including after he'd arrived on Sacrosanct.

For now, though, he shakes his head. ]

There wasn't really any job to be done where I was before - nothing that was done for payment, anyway, it was more out of necessity that we'd do anything.

And the universes weren't similar. I'm guessing I'm from further back, according to what I've been seeing.

So you survived. [ It's more an observation than a question, because Lisbeth did the same. She isn't in the habit of making friends or even allies, but everything Arthur says reminds her of some of the decisions she makes on her own. Smiling thinly, it's almost barely visible to begin with, but she tries. ]

I guess there's not much else you can do in situations like these, where things are out of your control. [ But that's enough philosophizing from her. ] This is definitely not the same as mine either, too futuristic for me, but nothing I can't deal with.
soldad: (pissed off)

[ Arthur rolls his shoulders a little, as if not agreeing or disagreeing with Lisbeth. But he did survive, did what he could and what he felt was the right thing to do. He'll likely do the same, here.

As long as he's not a science experiment.

The common, less intimate ground is appreciated, and he gives a small half smile. ]

Mine didn't have all this technology. Hell, [ He gestures to the Sacrosanct-issued armor, ] This isn't even mine. But I've had a while to get used to the nuances of it.

Might as well run with what you've got.

[ She shrugs indifferently, because that's her approach. Arthur may come off as frustrated with not returning, but Lisbeth takes it as is, perfectly satisfied. There's unresolved matters to deal with, but right now, every little thing is an opportunity. First time she's ever been optimistic after all. ]

I'd kind of like to have that armor myself.

[ Because it is rather good looking to begin with. ]
