You’re not sure how it happened.

A minute ago, you had somewhere to go, someplace to be. Maybe something important to do, or maybe you were just going out to buy groceries. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter anymore.

You’re in some kind of transport -- a shuttle, given the turbulence and the sounds outside. You’re surrounded by strangers, some of whom might not even be the same species you are. There’s no point in asking. They don’t know how they got here either. The cockpit’s blocked off, like someone forgot to put in a door, and not even a glance at your omni-tool -- a holographic interface accessible by merely tapping the sensor on your left arm -- is any help.

You’ve only got a minute or so before the shuttle starts descending. There aren’t any windows -- this doesn’t look like a shuttle meant for long trips. When it finally touches down, the doors open automatically.

Before you are landing pads, abandoned equipment scattered about. There are other shuttles landing, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get off before yours dumps you out the door. Turn around, and you’re met with a hazy skyline, only half the buildings seem to be coming from above.

[yyyep, this is mordin all right .. he can't mistake that pattern of speech for anything, and despite the fact that it's .. beyond weird to see the guy here given the fact that he's supposed to be .. y'know, dead, he's doing a really damn good job of hiding his surprise.

[there's a pause, and he looks around them, as though debating on what exactly he should do about this. hardly any credits on his chit, afterlife isn't exactly cheap .. well, if this isn't a dilly of a pickle.] .. I wonder if they give discounts to dead guys. Guess there's no harm in seeing.

[oh, and -] Oh, yeah, the Commander's here. So are a bunch of others, seems like. Liara's been going around information-collecting, I guess. Just like her.

Shocking suggestion! Must be mistaken. Quite alive. Current vitals adequate proof. [Here have a scan of himself from his omni-tool with a very obvious heart rate and all the good stuff.] Survived assault on collector base without difficulty. Escorted crew on return trip to Normandy. No need to provide beverages.

[He glances around at the landing pad.]

[If he'd been salarian, he might have read some confusion and uncertainty but maybe just a tiny bit of relief. The genophage is something that is slowly eating away at him and making him feel guiltier and guiltier.]

Can imagine. Original genophage did. Multiplication of krogan has connotations that will likely resonant for centuries.

[Yep, that's it. He's not really surprised that he died over the course of the war. Mordin is at the end of his life; he's just happy he had done something useful with his death.]
