You’re not sure how it happened.

A minute ago, you had somewhere to go, someplace to be. Maybe something important to do, or maybe you were just going out to buy groceries. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter anymore.

You’re in some kind of transport -- a shuttle, given the turbulence and the sounds outside. You’re surrounded by strangers, some of whom might not even be the same species you are. There’s no point in asking. They don’t know how they got here either. The cockpit’s blocked off, like someone forgot to put in a door, and not even a glance at your omni-tool -- a holographic interface accessible by merely tapping the sensor on your left arm -- is any help.

You’ve only got a minute or so before the shuttle starts descending. There aren’t any windows -- this doesn’t look like a shuttle meant for long trips. When it finally touches down, the doors open automatically.

Before you are landing pads, abandoned equipment scattered about. There are other shuttles landing, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get off before yours dumps you out the door. Turn around, and you’re met with a hazy skyline, only half the buildings seem to be coming from above.

Then you got beamed up to the wrong scummy shithole. [ Because compared to some of the people here, this is modest. Well, compared to what she used to wear, at least, this is modest.

'Captain'. So this is a military outfit? Weird. ]

Well, Captain Vintage, welcome to Omega. And 2186. [ Because if you're saying 'dames' you are seriously out of date, or some really strange shit has come back in style. And with a glance down to the extended hand, then back up to Steve, then back down to the hand, she does, eventually, shake it. ]

[Yeah, he's for real. Go figure right? It's beginning to sound like he's the last decent guy in the universe. Probably not true, but he'd certainly win an award for most old-fashioned.]

Hopefully I end up back home before I get used to it.

[Not quite a military uniform. It's a long story. She doesn't seem like she'd have the patience to hear it or the inclination.]

Pardon me? [Steve looks at her like he hadn't quite heard her.] Did you say 2186?

[His handshake is firm and accompanied by a friendly nod. Jack. He'll remember that.]

[ You probably are, Shepard aside. Excuse her while it takes a long time for her to be convinced of it, though. ]

If it's anything like the last place I've been, it's not very likely.

[ Mmmnope. Right again. And if this is working like Abax did, he better get used to the place, and fast, considering the way Omega's not exactly stable that often. ]

Yep. Guessing that's a ways off what you remember? [ Most people she met from alternate dimensions were behind her in time, but the occasional person was ahead. But judging on 'dame', he's probably not one.

[Steve gives her a confused look. That sentence doesn't make a whole lot of sense.]

Place called Abax. A lot like Omega's doing right now - bringing in people from across different dimensions or whatever the hell you want to call it. [ A snort and she shakes her head. This is all bullshit. ]

This is the galaxy I'm supposed to be in, but it wasn't pulling this kind of shit when I left.

[ Hold on, a little mental math here and... oh. ]

[ A shrug. When she'd left once before it had been the same.

And just a slow eyebrow raise at the last bit. ]

[It would have been more useful if you'd been pulled here and remembered how. A little trial and error and they might've been able to get home that way.]
