intro log
who. everyone!
what. entering omega.
where. landing pads
when. today
warnings. none for now
You’re not sure how it happened.
A minute ago, you had somewhere to go, someplace to be. Maybe something important to do, or maybe you were just going out to buy groceries. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter anymore.
You’re in some kind of transport -- a shuttle, given the turbulence and the sounds outside. You’re surrounded by strangers, some of whom might not even be the same species you are. There’s no point in asking. They don’t know how they got here either. The cockpit’s blocked off, like someone forgot to put in a door, and not even a glance at your omni-tool -- a holographic interface accessible by merely tapping the sensor on your left arm -- is any help.
You’ve only got a minute or so before the shuttle starts descending. There aren’t any windows -- this doesn’t look like a shuttle meant for long trips. When it finally touches down, the doors open automatically.
Before you are landing pads, abandoned equipment scattered about. There are other shuttles landing, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get off before yours dumps you out the door. Turn around, and you’re met with a hazy skyline, only half the buildings seem to be coming from above.
Welcome to Omega.
ooc notes
You’re free to expand past the landing area, but please start all threads here. Please remember that your character will not have housing until Aria makes a post granting it; it’ll be on
outsiders and linked here when it goes up.

[ He'd mention something about raptors, but even he's a little frazzled at the moment. Well, frazzled for Arthur.
He shifts again, adjusting the strap of the bag. ]
I'm okay. Out of the frying pan and into another, but at least there's no rampant AI that we know of.
[ Yet. ]

[ York wasn't so much a fan of the surprises that Hypatia would spring on them sometimes. And Arthur wasn't even there for the public torture. ]
You got any clue as to where the hell we are? I mean -- none of this is familiar to you, is it? 'Cause I'm at a loss.
no subject
[ He grimaces a little, looking up at the skyline through the haze. ]
No idea. I've heard people call it Omega, and it's obviously some kind of satellite. Other than that... not familiar at all.
no subject
[ York heaves a sigh and glances around them one more time. Nobody's happy they're here, but on the other hand, none of the locals seem too interested in their conversation. ]
I was just startin' to be okay with being trapped on that piece of junk, too.
no subject
[ Someone is getting pushed by an alien, and he watches with a sort of dispassionate curiosity before he looks back to York. ]
It was managing to seem idyllic there for a while, wasn't it?
no subject
[ Idyllic is a stretch, honestly, but it was...all right. ]
Yeah, I'd rather have people around. Even if they aren't exactly stand-up kind of folks. But hey, you can work with them, at least.
no subject
[ They are words that come from experience - selling each other out, in dreamshare, is not a good way to keep going, but there are people that you learn to get a feel for.
And people that slip past your radar because you trust them. Arthur frowns, just slightly, thinking that. ]
Kind of glad my gun came along for the ride.
no subject
[ York's hand goes to the pistol at her thigh almost immediately, as if double checking that it's there. She cocks her head at Arthur, sort of curiously. ]
But I'm gonna bet you there's a lot more to this place than what we get at a glance. There always is. What's your read on this place?
no subject
[ He flicks his eyes around, not actually turning his head. ]
A few distinct species, from what I can see, but there's no greeting party. It feels more like a real station - like people are used to coming and going rather than being stuck.
Someone's usually in charge of these places, but I don't know yet - haven't had time to look around.
Plus, new jewelry.
[ He gestures, finally, and the omni-tool comes to life. Arthur raises his eyebrows. ] A lot like the wearable, but not exactly.
no subject
You're right, though. Somebody is in charge, and given that we can't be the only strangers here, I'm sure they're gonna make themselves known sooner or later. Probably sooner.
no subject
[ Arthur's eyes are alight with a slightly curious look - the look of someone who wants to spend a while poking and prodding at a new toy until they know how it ticks - but he closes the omni tool with another twist of his wrist. ]
Looks like there's a network here - they'll probably do it there, so at least we have something to monitor.
[ But really as long as it's not Hypatia 2.0 ]
no subject
Yeah, maybe we'll even find a few answers.
{ She pauses, glancing around them. ]
Hey, while you're keepin' an eye out, do me a favor, will you?
no subject
Sure, shoot.
no subject
[ If Arthur's here, Wash has to be here, right? Man, she doesn't want to entertain the thought that he's still on Sacrosanct. ]
no subject
You'll be the first person I tell after I see him. He's around, I'm sure.
no subject
Thanks, man. I appreciate it. I'm sure I'll catch him around somewhere. And you keep in touch, all right? I don't wanna start worryin' about you disappearing on me.
no subject
[ Of course then someone goes walking by in entirely yellow armor, and he has to squint at it for a moment before he responds to her. ]
I'll keep in touch, York. Guess we've all gotta stick together, right?
[ It's an attempt at sarcasm but it rings a little true. ]
no subject
[ York gives him a little smile, because hey, there are only a handful of people here she really gives a shit about right now, and Arthur's pretty high on that short list. She wouldn't want to lose him, either. ]
Let me know if you see anything worth noting. I'll let you know if I uncover anything earthshaking, too. I'll see you around.
