intro log

who. everyone!
what. entering omega.
where. landing pads
when. today
warnings. none for now

You’re not sure how it happened.

A minute ago, you had somewhere to go, someplace to be. Maybe something important to do, or maybe you were just going out to buy groceries. Whatever it was, it doesn’t matter anymore.

You’re in some kind of transport -- a shuttle, given the turbulence and the sounds outside. You’re surrounded by strangers, some of whom might not even be the same species you are. There’s no point in asking. They don’t know how they got here either. The cockpit’s blocked off, like someone forgot to put in a door, and not even a glance at your omni-tool -- a holographic interface accessible by merely tapping the sensor on your left arm -- is any help.

You’ve only got a minute or so before the shuttle starts descending. There aren’t any windows -- this doesn’t look like a shuttle meant for long trips. When it finally touches down, the doors open automatically.

Before you are landing pads, abandoned equipment scattered about. There are other shuttles landing, and whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to get off before yours dumps you out the door. Turn around, and you’re met with a hazy skyline, only half the buildings seem to be coming from above.

Welcome to Omega.

ooc notes
You’re free to expand past the landing area, but please start all threads here. Please remember that your character will not have housing until Aria makes a post granting it; it’ll be on [community profile] outsiders and linked here when it goes up.

[It's become apparent that something seriously wrong has happened in the galaxy, people that Liara knows slipping through even though she knew they weren't on the Normandy at the time she went through the relay. But Thane's face doesn't come as a surprise, she just hopes he remembers her from their brief meetings before.]

Thane!

[She's getting tired of trying to get around people, so she hopes that he remembers her, or at least can identify her in the crowd.]

[ They hadn't met often— different generations of Shepard's crew and all— but anyone who worked on Illium as long as he had made note of its information network. And in that regard, Liara T'Soni had attracted quite a bit of attention. Lack of deep personal affiliations aside (and to be fair to her, he had very, very few of those to start), it was comforting to see a familiar face.

He ghosts past the people between them, casting a few slight glances around them before addressing her in a low, polite tone.
]

Dr. T'Soni. [ a small bow from his shoulders up ] I hadn't expected to see you here.

[ In large part because he hadn't planned on being here, but he leaves that bit alone. ]

[Liara gave a polite nod back, Thane had been someone that while he contact had been limited she had always kept track of the people that Shepard kept as company. Call it a paranoia but Liara was one to want to know more than she should about things.]

I don't think any of us expected to be here. I know I certainly wasn't impressed, but it's good to know there are a few familiar faces around.

[ If Liara were ever to open up and tell them all that they'd been the subject of her surveillance (he expects this will happen never), he wouldn't be surprised. Shepard traveled with mercenaries and murderers; however dedicated they were to his cause, most carried dark reputations. It was only natural to be paranoid.

He offers a faint smile with no actual amusement.
] If Omega is 'impressive,' it isn't by way of compliment. [ Then, a pause. How to phrase this without sounding like he'd lost his mind... ] You arrived by accident as well?
dowhatittakes: (have a seat)

[He'd be right in the fact that what Liara knows about the crew will be take to her grave for the most part. She knows a little too much to be comfortable.]

No, I arrived entirely by accident. We weren't supposed to be travelling anywhere near the terminus systems. [You're not crazy at all Thane, Liara's as wary of the situation as he is.]

Hm. [ He starts to walk; he's not one for nervous energy, but this isn't a conversation he wants to have in a crowd. Or maybe he doesn't crowds, period. Whatever the case, he continues speaking softly. ] We were returning from the Omega-4 relay. But I don't know how or when we were moved to these shuttles.
dowhatittakes: (I can't believe this-hand)

[personal profile] dowhatittakes 2013-02-03 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Liara will follow, glad to be moving away from anyone that could be eavesdropping. Thane was one of the few people that enjoyed quiet as much as she did and she found it relaxing.]

The Omega-4 relay? But... [That was nearly a year ago for her.] Did you find yourself on the shuttle just after the ship went through one of the relays?

[ The hustle and bustle of confusion was contagious— it's easier to think as they get away from it all. Granted, it seems the good doctor had her head screwed on straight, despite the situation. Shepard's people always did seem to take ridiculous galactic happenstances with grace. ] Last I recall, yes. [ He takes the moment to glance back over the shuttles, rolling his knuckles in a rare, absent motion. ] I'm not certain why. Whatever damage the Normandy sustained wasn't enough to warrant an emergency evacuation.

[ His gaze flicks back to Liara. ] And you?

[Liara's mind was doing the math for the time that spanned between what the two of them knew as their current future. This wasn't the first instance that she'd had with the crew not coming from the same timeline. It was a bit of a headache but she hoped Thane would be as calm and reserved about this as everything else.]

If that's the last you remember, I'm from about eight months in the future of when the Normandy came back from the Omega-4 relay. The last thing I remember before I found myself on the shuttle was talking to Shepard just before we hit the relay coming form Thessia.

It's not the first instance of heard of us being from different timelines, as crazy as it sounds.

[ Her explanation earns a slightly deeper frown. His lips part, as though to respond, before drawing together again. Several beats pass, and he finally hums in acknowledgement. Thane's voice retains its stoicism, though it grows even deeper than usual in a grim sense of urgency. ]

It... does sound strange, if you'll excuse my frankness. [ Absurd, really. Still it's not like he's got any better explanations, and Liara deserves the benefit of the doubt. ] If it's as you say, how does this happen?

That I don't know. I had a feeling my displacement was because the Reapers were tampering with the Mass Relays, but for time skips...that I can only blame on something being unstable in however the Reapers managed to reconfigure the relays.

It sounds absolutely insane but it's the best logic I've come up with. Alternate universe theories and wormhole concepts aside, I haven't a clue how this happened.

[It's clear Liara's terribly distressed about this even though she's doing her best to think logically through the situation at hand.]
