who. agent york and YOU!!
what. fightin' adjutants and tryin' to survive during the event
where. anywhere in zeta district
when. all during the event -- friday, saturday, and sunday!
warnings. violence, probably!
[ Well, there's one thing York can say for Omega so far, and that's that the place is never boring. At Sacrosanct, things could go quiet and dull for weeks on end, but here, there's always something going on. And while she'd rather it were something a little less deadly, she'll take what she can get.
She has to be careful here, because there aren't any teleporters they'll pop back out from if they die. Here, they've only got one life. So she's being about as careful as she can stand to be, always leaving the apartment clad in full armor and well-armed. She doesn't know how many of these things there are roaming around out here, but there are plenty to kill, that's for sure. Besides which, she knows there have to be folks out there who can't defend themselves -- and okay, York doesn't really consider herself a hero or anything, but she figures as long as she's out here shooting these things she might as well be doing some good.
She can be found around the district at varying points over the weekend, either keeping the adjutants from getting too close to her and Wash's apartment, or venturing out to other areas to do a little pest control. She'll be happy to temporarily team up with anyone else out shooting adjutants, and to save anyone who might need it -- or if your character is more the type to do the saving, feel free. York needs her ass saved once in a while, too. ]

No idea, but it doesn't look good. You sit tight, I'll go see what's up. Maybe there's a comm outage over there or somethin'.
no subject
[ He knows she can take care of herself, and it's just an inconvenience, really. They'll have plenty of time to sit around and watch movies, after all.
So Wash settles back on the couch and lets Rainier curl up in his lap, rubbing behind her neck. ]

[ Comm outage really does sound like the most likely cause, though York can't say that the cause of that isn't dangerous. Still, it'd be too much trouble to put on all that armor just for a peek outside, so York just grabs her pistol and heads outside, moving cautiously.
At first, she notices the neighborhood is strangely quiet. Abandoned, almost. That could be a coincidence, but it's still weird. York keeps her pistol up, ready to fire, as she heads toward the area where the restaurants are.
It doesn't take her long to see the problem. She's just barely turned a corner when she catches sight of a couple of adjutants, ugly, mutated-looking horrific things. She ducks back around the wall before they have a chance to see her, sucking in a sharp breath. At least it's not her birthday.
She doesn't move till she's sure they didn't spot her, and then she double-times it back to the apartment. When she comes back in and locks the door behind her, she's not relaxed, she's alert. ]
You better suit up, man. We've got a problem.
no subject
Well, shit.
[ Seriously. It's his birthday. What the hell, universe.
Wash carefully extracts Rainier from his lap and stands up, lips tugging down into a frown. ] What's going on?
no subject
Dunno exactly, but it's ugly. Saw some nasty mutated-lookin' things with too many tentacles and I doubled back here.
[ a beat. ]
This is potentially worse than dinosaurs.
no subject
[ He's already heading into his own room, but Wash stops at the doorway when he hears that, twisting back to look at her door. ]
Potentially worse than dinosaurs, or definitely?
no subject
Like I even know? I only got a glance at 'em. I wasn't exactly about to get up close and personal with those things with all my soft fleshy innards exposed.
no subject
[ Wash kicks his door half-shut and strips down so he can put on his bodysuit, hands moving automatically. Years of wearing this armor has made it something he barely has to think about anymore. ]
So I'm guessing I should bring the grenades.
no subject
Man, I'd tell you to bring a missile launcher if we had one.
no subject
[ Wash sounds entirely too interested in that prospect, but he keeps quiet until he pulls the rest of his armor on. He swings his rifle over his back and moves towards the front room to grab his helmet. ]
You ready?
no subject
[ Man, she hopes there are only a few of them. She just wants to shoot these fuckers, get their pizza, and watch the rest of that weird alien Bond movie. Admittedly, she was kinda getting into it.
She nods to the door, pistol at the ready as she heads for it. It only takes a moment to set the security system before they can leave the apartment, leaving Rainier safe inside. ]
I don't even know where the hell these things would've come from.
no subject
Wash shoots her a sideways look as they head out onto the street, already looking down both ways to check the area. ]
Maybe they're aliens.
no subject

[ When they reach the end of the street, Wash signals for York to wait a moment while he scopes out the area. The quiet is what makes it eerie, honestly -- there's always someone around, even in the dead of night, and the emptiness puts him that much more on alert. ]
I'll take point. Watch my six.
no subject
[ York trails behind Wash, pistol up and ready, a little tense. At least at Sacrosanct, they'd gotten used to things. They knew -- sort of -- why things happened. Here, though, they're still learning the ropes.
York hears the clatter of a knocked over trash can in a nearby alley and she jerks her head in that direction. ]
You hear that?
no subject
Approach on three. Sync?
no subject
Sync. One, two --
[ She's barely finished two before the adjutant comes tearing around the corner, startling the both of them -- York barely has time to react before the thing turns for Wash and heads straight for him. ]
no subject
[ Wash fires in one, two, three quick bursts, but his battle rifle isn't a rapid-fire weapon, and it barely even fazes the adjutant. He dives to the side and manages to roll out of its path as it charges forward, but he's still scrambling to get up when it turns back. ]
no subject
[ Man, these things don't play fair. York sees the adjutant coming for Wash, and he's so not ready -- but she is, and the shot's right in front of her. Her pistol's already in the air and as she moves toward Wash she fires once, twice, nailing the adjutant in the head both times. There's an ugly splattering of gore and it twitches for one agonizingly long moment before it crumples to the ground. ]
Man, I hate these things. You okay?
