A single tree makes no forest.

who. Everyone
what. Clean-up Day + Merc action
where. Damaged areas of the Zeta District
when. Saturday, all-day
warnings. PG-13

It took a few days of organizing, but clean-up of the Zeta District starts today! With four groups of volunteers working at fixing some of the damage wrought by the flames of the last week, it's a definite message being sent out to everyone, even Aria, that the Outsiders look out for their own.

working on repairs

Starscream checked the welder tool that had been available for clean-up, flicking it on and off. Seemed to be in good working order.

He transformed, the tool slipping into an inner compartment, and flew up and through the gaping hole he'd been examining, then landed on what was left of its roof. He returned to his more bipedal form, slipped the welder out, and knelt down by the scrap metal he'd been flying up.

Now to patch the hole in this roof....

Starscream notices his audience.

"Xiahou, do you need something?" Hasn't really registered with Starscream that the human may just be watching something unusual. "Something need to be delivered by air?"

[ What a bummer. Marco really wasn't looking forward to spending the weekend cleaning up messes, especially since he's probably at least indirectly responsible for some of them, but he doesn't really have much of a choice. Part of it is to keep his cover as a stupid innocent boy, but also because he'd probably have to steal Joker's shuttle and hide in deep space to keep from getting dragged out to scrubbing duty.

So here's his plan: smile and nod his way through all the tasks assigned to him, then go drag the same couple of bags of trash back and forth from one pile to another, while sneaking off to surf the extranet on his omni-tool whenever he thought no one was looking at him.

No one will possibly know the difference, right? ]

[ Seriously, is this guy a complete psycho.

Marco's hands fly away from his omni-tool in pure guilt as soon as he heard Dun's voice, and he fixes a smile on his face as he's steered into some things that needed to be Cleaned. ]

Scrub this, don't call you ever, got it.

[ He drags the bucket over to the dirty wall and stares at it forlornly, then starts slowly scrubbing little tiny circles. The slower he works, the less other work he's going to get assigned, right?

He's sneaking looks over his shoulder at Dun, trying to keep his body angled so as to block the obvious orange glow as he pulls up his omni-tool again. ]

[For his part, Kirrahe had spent half of his time directing people around and sending others after supplies. The rest of his time was spent patrolling. He didn't trust the mercs to just stay out of the way while Zeta District was repaired. If anything, this would be an ideal situation for them to just charge in and have their way.

Not on Kirrahe's watch. If he had any say in the matter, nothing was going to breech this parameter. From time to time he would raise his sniper rifle and use the scope to keep an eye on things further out. Thankfully, it all looked clear. For now.]

[Prowl had been assigned to do some of the physical work - namely heavy lifting and repair. While it isn't often a position he felt at home in, he wasn't about to let pride get in the way of a necessary duty. And really, excluding his physical advantages as a Cybertronian would be irresponsible of him in his eyes. ]

[So hi Kirrahe, don't mind if he just passes by your perimeter position on his way to the next job site. He's just going to look out with you - sans scope. The mechanization of his optics do noticeably adjust.]

It's too quiet.
motivationalspeaker: (are you fucking with me right now)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-04-30 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kirrahe glances up from his scope briefly, tensing up for a second when he realizes he's being addressed by a machine. It wasn't a geth and it didn't appear to be hostile, and it wouldn't be the first AI Kirrahe'd met on this station. For all he knew, this robot was in the same boat as everyone else here.

Kirrahe let himself relax, lowering his rifle.]

My thoughts exactly. I know we've attracted attention from the mercenaries, we weren't exactly subtle about trying to repair this place. Someone is going to take advantage of this situation. The question is when.

[Snipers always find the most interesting places to perch, of course Pax is only there because one of the wiring boxes for power to the district is up there and in desperate need of repair. People like power to keep things running, so does she, and she's not about to have to go without.

So despite all of the wires and odd tools she has in her hands she'll call over to him.]

Anything interesting?
motivationalspeaker: (a big nuke)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-04-30 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kirrahe's still peering down the scope of his rifle as he replies, intently watching something]

I've seen a couple vorcha poking around at the edge of the parameter, but they haven't done anything that requires taking their heads off.

[Yet, anyway. His finger's been on the trigger the whole time, just in case.]
spinelessdecoder: (Oh look a penny)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-04-30 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well hopefully once I get this thing rewired the street lights will work better and they'll keep back a little more.

[She's not going to poke him for what he's watching, it's better to let snipers do their thing she's found.]

Just scouts so far then. Good. Hopefully no one blows up the power boxes again.
motivationalspeaker: (krogaaaaaaaaaaaaaaans)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-04-30 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Blood Pack scouts. If there have been any Eclipse or Blue Suns, they're keeping well hidden.

[Honestly who would ever send vorcha out as scouts they're terrible at it]
Edited 2013-04-30 23:32 (UTC)
spinelessdecoder: (dont you touch that)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-01 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Blood pack aren't the smartest gang out there. I'd check high places for Eclipse mercs.

[She'll go back to trying to repair this stupid electric box and get zapped.]

Ow, dammit. Can't believe I said yes to doing this.
motivationalspeaker: (are you fucking with me right now)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-05-01 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Silly goose he's been paying extra close attention to all the high spots. He ain't no rookie yo. But no big. he glances over after she zaps herself]]

We need all the help we can get out here. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Are you okay, or do you need any medi-gel?
spinelessdecoder: (Dem goggles)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-01 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fine, I'm built a little more sturdy than most people.

[She's not a sniper, she just pokes around in electric boxes with metal tools. She's a smart cookie.]

I'm just sick of vorcha scurrying around the place, bit of light will fix that nicely.
motivationalspeaker: (shepard in pink)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-05-01 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[just don't get zapped again roomie 8((((]

Hopefully, though I'd rather deal with them than a load of krogan.
spinelessdecoder: (Oh look a penny)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-01 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Just ship her off to Mordin if she does something exceedingly stupid.]

Agreed. At least most vorcha aren't smart enough to realize when they're in danger of being shot. krogan just ignore it and get mad, which is the last thing anyone needs.
motivationalspeaker: (why can't you just be green)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-05-01 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Good idea LOOK MORDIN I'M GETTING YOU PATIENTS 8U]

The whole redundant organ system thing doesn't help any. Unless you get them right between the eyes, then it's not a problem. Doesn't help if they get too close, though.
spinelessdecoder: (Dem goggles)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-06 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's cool with NOT going to the hospital too.]

I'd always double tap with a krogan, even if you get them between the eyes you never know I've seen them get up after getting shot clean through their head before.
motivationalspeaker: (fine just a little nuke)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-05-07 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
At this distance it wouldn't be too difficult to put a few rounds into them. Unless you're up against a battle master, anyway. That biotic charge is brutal.
spinelessdecoder: (well that's mildly surprising)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-08 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't know about any krogan biotic battle masters but I'm not going to piss one off enough to find out.

And I think we should have power.

[She'll plug something in with a clunk as all of the street lights flick on for the first time in eons, lighting up the dingy district and turning on a lot of old lights that likely haven't been used in forever.]

Look at that. Now everyone should have power.
motivationalspeaker: (hey baby hey baby hey)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-05-08 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent job! At this rate we'll have this district fully operational in a matter of days.
spinelessdecoder: (Dem goggles)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-09 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's hope, I'm going to lock this box with a code so no one can mess up the wires again.

[She'll do that and somehow get down from where she was perched.]

On to the next one. Those vorcha still scuttling around?
motivationalspeaker: (krogaaaaaaaaaaaaaaans)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-05-10 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
[One sec bud, Kirrahe is checking his scope]

Don't see them. If I had to guess, I'd say they were reporting to their superiors about our progress. I do see a couple batarians, but they aren't wearing merc armor. Could be civilians.
spinelessdecoder: (Default)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-10 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
If they're not wearing armour I'd leave them be, they're probably in just as much of a shitty situation as the rest of us are here. Maybe even a worse one.

[She'll just hop down and start heading for the next electric box that hasn't been looked at in ages.]

I wonder if anyone in the galaxy actually likes Batarians?
motivationalspeaker: (fine just a little nuke)

[personal profile] motivationalspeaker 2013-05-10 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[still just watching them like a creepy stalker salarian for a second]

They don't build themselves up to be the most pleasant species in the galaxy. Personally, I don't really have any issues with them. There are bigger things to worry about.
spinelessdecoder: (and that makes you mad doesnt it?)

[personal profile] spinelessdecoder 2013-05-12 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hey I'm not going to shoot them on sight, I'm just saying they're not making themselves any friends in the galaxy.

[Keep being creepy there frog-man.]

I hope you don't use that scope for evil, Kirrahe.
motivationalspeaker: (fine just a little nuke)

Good thing, otherwise I'd be worried.
