North hadn't exactly spent a lot of time with his sister since their arrival. Not only had he unintentionally alienated her by moving in with Carolina, he'd made a fool of himself when he'd finally come to talk to her about their whole situation. In short, he'd made a mess of things without meaning to, and he needed to make up for it.
She'd screamed at him, and he'd taken it, because there was a part of him that felt like he deserved it for keeping something so important from her. They'd gotten through it, and even though he felt like there was still some tension between them, he liked to think that they were on their way to getting back to normal. Well, as normal as things could be between the two of them.
When he'd asked her to accompany him to the market district, he was surprised that she hadn't refused him outright. (He knew she could hold a grudge, and despite the fact that they were family, it was no different when it came to him if he'd done something to upset her.) But as he waited, upon seeing her approach he felt the slightest bit better about the whole situation, thinking that maybe, just maybe, this was what they needed to find themselves in comfortable space again.
North smiled at his sister, hands in the pockets of a pair of pants he'd found shortly after he and Carolina had found their place - and that were too short by about two inches - trying to look as though he wasn't expecting this to all blow up in his face. "Hey, kiddo."
