"Yes, that's correct. Some are fully automatic, others fire in bursts. I'd say they're ideal for beginners. They don't require as much precision training as a sniper rifle or pistol, most are small enough to conceal easily. Without mods they don't have a lot of stopping power, but the rate of fire is usually more than enough to make up for it."

"If you're looking for something rapid fire that packs more of a punch, I'd recommend an assault rifle. It's the same idea as the SMG, just bigger and designed to deal more damage."
